I am a textile artist specialising in large scale lino printing onto fabric. I take heritage textile craft processes and push their creative boundaries and application. My work is an exploration of pigment transfer onto fabric by studying the form of nature and plants from initial observational and reactionary line sketches to their expression in shape, texture and colour,. Often abstract in form, my work evokes nature and my curiosity of the process. The foundation of this fascination came from botanically drawing plants for decades as a textile print designer.

Observation, sketching and experimentation guide my approach informed by an interest in conservation of natural habitats and plants. The pieces bring drama and positivity into spaces, transforming interiors with colour sensibility and energy.  
I surround myself with plants in my studio and am fascinated with their growth when propagating them. My practise is driven by my need for experimentation with the printing process itself and the unpredictable pigment and dye absorption into natural fabric. I work with biodegradable materials, organic cotton and natural pigments. 

" Ribbons of Synthesis” is a study of large grasses contributing to water conservation in landscapes chosen for their movement and entanglement whilst synthesising the suns energy, celebrating the power of plants to sequester carbon and release oxygen for life. Each large scale lino printed piece is unique, printed by hand and a limited edition in the series using natural pigments and fabric and is expressed in both literal and abstract forms.

My curiousness for exploring, learning and reacting creatively to nature is a fantastic catalyst. In my work I aim to share the joy, beauty and current vulnerability of plants and to highlight habitat and plant loss due to climate change.
